Zoey Deutch has been tapped as the star of Awesomeness Films’ next feature film project Before I Fall, the adaptation of the 2010 YA novel by Lauren Oliver that originally was set up some time ago at Fox 2000. Now it’s at Awesomeness Films, the movie division of multichannel platform AwesomenessTV that has already seen digital success with this year’s output Smosh: The Movie and last year’s Expelled.
Ry Russo-Young will direct Maria Maggenti’s Black List script, with revisions by Gina Prince-Bythewood. The plot centers on Samantha Kingston (Deutch), a high school senior who finds that she may be living the last day of her life over and over until she gets it right. If you had only one day left on earth who would you kiss, who would you tell the real truth to, who would you save? Amid that, she must untangle the mystery surrounding her death—and discover the true value of everything she is in danger of losing.
Awesomeness Films founder Brian Robbins and newly minted president Matt Kaplan who moved over from Lionsgate are producing with Jon Shestack. The plan is to start production in late October primarily on location in Vancouver. UTA packaged the film.

Zoey Deutch’s destiny within the world of acting could be construed as preordained. The daughter of actress Lea Thompson (Back to The Future) and director Howard Deutch (Pretty in Pink, Some Kind of Wonderful), one might say the nineteen-year-old was groomed for entertainment. Starring roles in films such as this year’s Vampire Academy have put the young actress firmly on the map. Yet her beginnings, she graciously admits, were more humble. “I used to make really embarrassing, ridiculous short films with my cousin and sister. We would play whatever characters we could possibly conjure up,” Zoey remembers. “I would steal my mom’s jelly boobs from when she was in a sitcom and they would put in fake padding boobs… and put them in my dresses so I could resemble Barbie, which was upsetting in so many different ways.” Her first professional job on The Disney Channel’s The Suite Life Zack and Cody wasn’t perfect either. “I was so bad at it, so uneducated about terminology and industry etiquette, and understanding people’s jobs.” Riding the wave of her blockbuster hit Vampire Academy, Zoey will star in Cover Girl as well as Good Kids, both slated for release in 2015.
Zoey Deutch has landed the lead female role in the upcoming movie That’s What I’m Talking About!
The movie is the acclaimed directorRichard Linklater‘s highly anticipated follow up to his hit film Boyhood, which received tons of rave reviews this summer.
In That’s What I’m Talking About, Zoeywill be playing the lead female character Beverly alongside such hunky actors asTyler Hoechlin, Ryan Guzman, and Glen Powell. While the plot details aren’t available yet, the movie will center on the lives of baseball players on and off the field in the ’80s.
Also on Zoey‘s slate is the upcoming filmGood Kids, which she just wrapped up filming, alongside Ashley Judd and Demian Bichir.
